Hey y'all!
56 days from now, I will be flying down to Costa Rica to study abroad for 4 months, and I can't wait! I am also blogging for Valpo Voyager, the study abroad blog at Valparaiso University. This will be my (hopefully) daily blog, and I will provide links to my articles in the Valpo Voyager as well. Posts will be pretty sporatic throughout the next 56 days, but hopefully will become more consistent once I'm in school.
I will be living in a neighborhood near San Jose, the capital of Costa Rica, and I will be attending classes at Universidad Biblica Latinoamericana, San Jose, as well as at Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica. I am so excited for all of my classes, and I'm wondering what kind of Spanish class I'll be taking, since I don't take a placement test until I get there. In addition to my Spanish class, I will be taking Ethnology History of Costa Rica, and Análisis de textos bíblicos. One big, and kind of scary, fact is that I am the only student from Valpo going to Costa Rica this fall. This fact kind of terrifies me because I have never flown alone before, much less left the country alone. However, I am taking this as an opportunty to step outside of my comfort zone and to learn as much as possible. I am also hoping that this will allow me to spend very little time speaking in English, and allowing myself to be immersed in the language and culture.
